The consultancy scope for NABH Panchakarma
Clinic Accreditation is governed by the 3rd Edition AYUSH Standards. This
specialized accreditation focuses on the safety of traditional detoxification
therapies and the quality of Ayurvedic medicines.
The consultancy scope of service includes:
1.
Infrastructure & Zoning Advisory
Therapy Room Design: Ensuring Panchakarma
theaters have non-slip flooring (crucial for oil-based therapies), proper
drainage, and adequate ventilation for Swedana (steam) units.
Privacy Standards: Verifying the presence
of changing rooms and ensuring patient dignity during therapies like Abhyanga
and Basti.
Medicinal Garden/Storage: Ensuring the
clinic has a designated area for the storage of Tailas (oils), Ghrutas (ghee),
and herbs, following "First-In-First-Out" (FIFO) inventory practices.
2.
Clinical Protocols & Therapy Safety
SOP Development: Drafting step-by-step
clinical protocols for the "Pradhan Karma" (Five main therapies:
Vamana, Virechana, Basti, Nasya, and Raktamokshana).
Consent Management: Creating specialized
informed consent forms that detail the procedure, expected "Samyak
Yoga" (signs of proper detoxification), and potential "Vyapad"
(complications).
Therapy Validation: Establishing protocols
for monitoring patient vitals before, during, and after intensive procedures
like Vamana (emesis) or Virechana (purgation).
3.
Infection Control & Hygiene
Droni & Equipment Care: Implementing
SOPs for the deep cleaning and disinfection of wooden or fiber Dronis (therapy
tables) and steam chambers to prevent cross-contamination.
Reusable Item Sterilization: Establishing
protocols for the sterilization of metallic instruments used in Raktamokshana
or Ksharasutra.
Biomedical Waste (BMW): Ensuring the
clinic complies with BMW Management Rules, particularly for blood-soaked
materials and sharp needles.
4.
Medication & Dietary Safety
Aushadh-shala Management: Ensuring all
internal medicines are sourced from GMP-certified manufacturers and are labeled
with batch numbers and expiry dates.
Pathya (Dietary) SOPs: Developing
standardized diet charts for patients undergoing therapy, as diet is an
integral part of the Panchakarma outcome.
5.
Quality Indicators for Panchakarma (2026 Metrics)
Consultants set up tracking for mandatory
AYUSH metrics:
Therapy Completion Rate: Percentage of
patients who completed the full course of treatment.
Incidence of Therapy Burns: Monitoring
safety during Swedana or Agni Karma.
Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR): Establishing
a registry to track any skin reactions or gastrointestinal issues post-therapy.
Patient Outcome Assessment: Using
standardized Ayurvedic scales to measure improvement in chronic conditions.
6.
Desktop Assessment (DA) & Portal Support
NABH Portal Management: Managing the
digital application specifically under the AYUSH - Panchakarma Clinic category.
Digital Evidence: Uploading geotagged
photos of the therapy room, the sterile storage area, and emergency kits.
Staff Credentialing: Verifying the
registration of the Vaidyas (Doctors) and the certification of the
Masueurs/Therapists.
7.
Training & Readiness
Emergency Drills: Training staff on
handling therapy-related emergencies (e.g., sudden drop in blood pressure or
fainting) and maintaining a basic medical emergency kit.
Mock Audit: Simulating an NABH AYUSH
Assessment using the tracer methodology to follow a patient’s journey from
Purva-karma (preparation) to Paschat-karma (post-therapy care).
NC Closure: Assisting in resolving any
deficiencies raised by the assessors within the 15-day window.
