NABH Care Home Accreditation Program

For a NABH Care Home (including senior living, assisted living, and palliative care facilities), the consultancy scope of service is built around the 1st Edition standards, which focus on safety, dignity, and quality of life for residents.

A specialized consultancy provides end-to-end services tailored to these specific requirements:

1. Initial Assessment & Quality Culture

Gap Analysis: A detailed audit of existing operations, infrastructure, and documentation against the 92 objective elements within the six chapters of the Care Home standards.

Management Counseling: Guiding leadership to foster a culture of person-centered care, safety, and continuous improvement, rather than treating accreditation as a one-time compliance exercise.

Scope Finalization: Defining the specific services provided (e.g., skilled nursing, dementia care, rehabilitation) which forms the basis for the entire accreditation audit.

2. Documentation & Policy Design

Consultants assist in developing a robust quality management system, including manuals, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs):

Resident Rights & Engagement (RRE & REW): Developing clear policies for respecting resident rights, privacy, informed consent, and involving them and their families in the care planning process.

Facility Management & Safety (FMS): Creating manuals for fire safety protocols (adhering to National Building Codes), emergency evacuation plans, and universal accessibility (ramps, grab bars).

Health, Hygiene, & Infection Control (HHIC): Drafting specific SOPs for sanitation, laundry hygiene, biomedical waste management, and outbreak prevention within a residential setting.

3. Implementation & Training

Staff Competency Training: Conducting targeted training for all staff (caregivers, health aides, housekeeping, security) on geriatric care principles, resident rights, and emergency response.

Mock Drills: Organizing practice fire drills and medical emergency simulations to test staff readiness and coordination.

Internal Audit Training: Training core staff members to conduct ongoing self-assessments and collect data for quality indicators (KPIs).

4. Assessment Support & Liaison

Application Management: Facilitating the online application submission via the NABH Portal.

Desktop Assessment (DA) Prep: Ensuring all documentation and photographic evidence is compiled and formatted correctly for the initial digital review phase.

Onsite Guidance: Providing hands-on support during the physical assessment by NABH assessors, including interviews with residents and staff to verify implementation.

NC Closure: Assisting in the timely submission of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) for any Non-Conformities (NCs) identified during the assessment.

5. Post-Accreditation Maintenance

Surveillance Preparation: Guiding the facility to prepare for the mandatory surveillance assessment, typically held between 21-24 months after accreditation is granted.

Continuous Monitoring: Setting up systems for continuous monitoring and reporting of quarterly KPIs to ensure sustained compliance over the four-year accreditation cycle.
